who can help a young italian entrepreneur?

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

I am a young entrepreneur that commercialize luxury italian product ( truffle, mushroom, extra virgin olive oil…. etc) and I'm looking for the turning point of life!
I want to find in the word some trading partners (importer, distributor), to help me to grow professionally.
Please no service fee.

Hey buddy, if you want to get something for nothing, your entrepreneurial career is off to a bad start.

First of all, you didn't specify in which country you are and what you are doing there. Second, the only way for you to get useful info on how to market Italian stuff is through ICE.

Sure they charge a service fee, but they will be always much cheaper than any marketing consultant you would happen to hire. Plus, they have offices and delegations worldwide, and they surely know better than anybody else.

If you find somebody who says he will help you for free, he's gonna run away with your money for sure. Better safe than sorry…

How can my son become a young entrepreneur?

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

He is 10 years old. He wants to run his own business when he gets older. He is very responsible and has a great deal of skills that it would take. I just have no idea where to start. Is there an online community or a webpage that gives ideas for children and support? What steps do you think we should take? Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

I want to be a young entrepreneur myself. I probably became this way from my very independent lifestyle outside of my parents even from a really young age. Homeschooling is defiently not the anwser YE's need to meet and study people, that is something they cannot get easily through a home schooled enviroment. The most important thing is to instill a early sense of achivement and responsiblitly from jobs. Even though he is ten, he can maybe make money from you by doing house hold jobs and eventually move to the neighbors and then the whole block. Even when I was young I tried a billion differnt 'businesses" I was always thinking of new ones but my mother was always encouraging but forced me to be smart like asking questions…is that legal, do you need a permit, insurance. It's imporant to encourage him but also teach him how to be semi-realistic to research things he is interested and most imporantly go to college. I graduated a year early from high school because I wanted to get done faster to start my businesses but the application and technology he will learn in college will be very vauble to him eventually running a successful business. email me if you have any more question about handling his personality. Don't feel bad if her tries to distance himself for you the YE spirit is very independent, he will eventually come back.

As an entrepreneur, when you wanted to buy a home, did you have problems getting a mortgage with decent terms?

Friday, April 17th, 2009

Banks are famously wary of lending to small-business owners. So how did you manage to get a mortgage with reasonable terms? Or did many banks refuse you?

As long as your credit history is excellent, you should have no problem getting a decent mortgage with reasonable terms.

Even an 80-20 mortgage with zero down is easy if you talk to a lender and tell them you want to do a 'stated income' loan.

You will pay a marginal difference in interest rate - perhaps 1/4 percent - but you will also be able to refinance in several months or a year at a better rate because you will have a payment history on the loan.

Don't let being an entrepeneur discourage you. Use the same determination you apply to your business to talk to various lenders until you find one cabable and willing to deal with a stated income loan.

Would an owner of a restaurant be referred to as an 'entrepreneur'?

Monday, April 13th, 2009

I am currently working on an assignment. I am trying to write about a restaurant owner in the correct context. Is it correct to refer to a restaurant/bar owner as an entrepreneur? Or is this only correct when referring to certain business types? Any additional information on how to formally refer to a 'restaurant owner' would be appreciated as I am not very familiar with this area of knowledge! Thanks in advance!

An entrepreneur is someone who decides to take up a (business) opportunity at the cost of being exposed to risk. A restaurant owner is definitely an entrepreneur since that market is extremely risky.

To answer your question: yes, you can definitely refer to the owner as an entrepreneur in your assignment.

Friday, April 10th, 2009

I was thinking:

1. Drive (motivation)
2. Skills (expertise in field)
3. Experience (managing people or projects)

What do you think?

Management skills - the ability to manage time and people (both yourself and others) successfully
Communication skills and the ability to sell ideas and persuade others
The ability to work both as part of a team and independently
Able to plan, coordinate and organise effectively
Financial literacy
Able to research effectively, for example available markets, suppliers, customers and the competition
Self motivated and disciplined
Adaptable
Innovative thinking and creative
The ability to multi-task
Able to take responsibility and make decisions
The ability to work under pressure
Perseverance
Competitiveness
Willingness to take risks
Ability to network and make contacts
Many, if not all of these skills and traits are also useful for an entrepreneur to have.
